We asked for your views on the School Admission arrangements for the 2023-24 academic year including changes to the processing of late applications and school holiday dates.

You said

There was overwhelming support for keeping the school holidays the same as in previous years, with many saying these allowed parents of primary aged children to book holidays in the May half term.

There was a mixed response to the change of processing late applications, many stakeholders felt it was fair to allow these applications to be made on time following offer day. Others felt that there is sufficient time for everyone to apply and it was unfair to the parents and children who applied by the deadline.

We did

The proposals were considered and approved with school holiday dates following the same format as in previous years and ‘late applications’ will be considered as on time 2 weeks after offer day. The full determination can be found here: https://www.stockport.gov.uk/determination-notice-2023-24

Overview

 

Stockport Local Authority is the Admission Authority for all Community and Voluntary Controlled schools in Stockport, it administers matters regarding admission arrangements on behalf of the Governig Bodies of all Voluntary Aided schools and Academies in the Borough. Accordingly, Corporate Support Services are undertaking this statutory consultation process with parents and other stakeholders for the whole family of Admission Authorities in Stockport.

Admission Arrangements for maintained schools for 2023/24 will remain unchanged from those determined for 2022/23 with the exception of the items listed below. The Local Authority wishes to invite interested parties to take part in this consultation on the following items:

  • Proposed oversusbcription criteria for Cheadle Hulme high School
     
  • Co-ordinated Admission Arrangements for applications recieved after the closing date(s).
     
  • Stockport Local Authority School Terms and Holiday Dates 2023/24 
     

  • Summer Born Children Policy (Information only item)
