Our Strategy for Cycling, Micro-Mobility and Walking and Wheeling

Our strategy for cycling and micro-mobility and walking and wheeling is outlined on pages 84-92 and more detail is provided in the accompanying delivery plan on pages 118-120.

Stockport Council has a vision as first set out in our Borough Walking and Cycling Plan 2019- “to make walking and cycling the natural choices for all ages and abilities for commuting, utility and leisure trips over shorter distances both within Stockport and to neighbouring areas”.

The strategy focuses on improving safe, connected routes between neighbourhoods, schools and local centres, while expanding high quality infrastructure that supports healthier, more sustainable travel. It also recognises the growing role of e-bikes and other micro-mobility options in reducing car dependency and widening access to sustainable transport. The questions in this section will ask for your comments on our strategy and delivery plan for cycling and micro-mobility and walking and wheeling.
