Licensing Policy 2021
Overview
Stockport Council is reviewing its licensing policy and is asking for views as part of the consultation
Under the Licensing Act 2003 we must produce a statement of licensing policy every 5 years, or sooner if necessary. Our policy was last reviewed in late 2015 and published in January 2016. The licensing policy covers alcohol sales, most forms of public entertainment, club premises and late-night refreshment.
In reviewing this policy we acknowledge the exceptional circumstances being experienced by the licensed trade and stakeholders due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore this review has only focused on updating outdated references and has made no significant changes to the current 2016-21 policy. This comes with a commitment to carry out a full review and consultation within the next 18 – 24 months, when it is hoped that the impact of the pandemic on the licensing regime will be better understood.
