We have drafted proposals for path improvements to upgrade urban paths within the Borough to cater for use by cyclists, walkers and mobility scooter / wheelchair users. These proposals will support sustainable travel choices and improve safety and access for all users.

As part of these proposals, a scheme is being developed to provide a shared use path linking Beechfield Road to Clutha Road / Frewland Avenue. This path provides a parallel route to Bramhall Lane improving access to Davenport Station and Davenport Playing Fields, and is often used by cyclists and dog walkers / pedestrians.

The proposals include:

  • Widening of the path to create a 3m wide shared-use footway cycleway.
  • Provision of shared use signage, new bollards and dropped kerbs at the ends of the path.
  • Provision of double yellow lines to prevent vehicles from blocking the dropped kerbs.

More Information and Have Your Say

We would like to hear your views on the proposals, and specifically to what extent you agree or disagree with them. We are inviting feedback from all residents, businesses, and other stakeholders by Sunday 14th December 2025.

All responses to this consultation will be collated and considered as part of the scheme development process prior to any implementation. Please be aware we may not be able to enter detailed correspondence with individuals about points raised.

The scheme would be funded from the Integrated Funding Block (ITB) which has been allocated from the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) and is intended to be used to fund small scale improvements for road safety and the promotion of sustainable travel modes, in line with the CRSTS objectives.
