Preparing for Adulthood Strategy Consultation

Overview

We are inviting parents, carers, young people with SEND, professionals, and partner organisations to share their views on Stockport’s draft Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) strategy. This strategy sets out how we will support young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as they move into adulthood, from ages 14-25.

Your feedback is essential to make sure the strategy reflects real experiences, meets diverse needs, and leads to positive outcomes.

What is this consultation about?

Our draft strategy aims to help young people:

  • Live in the place they call home with dignity and respect
  • Have choices about their lives
  • Access opportunities for independence, employment, and community inclusion
  • Stay healthy and safe
  • Live a Gloriously Ordinary Life: Gloriously Ordinary Lives

We want to know if the strategy works for families, professionals, and organisations who support young people.

Why your feedback matters

  • Young people with SEND: Your lived experience is central. We want to hear what matters most to you as you prepare for adulthood.
  • Parents and carers: Your insights help us understand what support works best for families during transition.
